PEER TEACHING

As a part of our B.Ed curriculum, we have to take 40 lesson plans. But during this corona period and due to the schools were shut down, we had to limit our classroom teaching to a computer screen. Thus we started our new internship programme on November 16, 2020 through online platform using the application Google meet.

We started our internship programme with peer teaching. We, the students of physical science were divided into 3 groups and are asked to  observe the classes of our peers. The peers I got were Abirami Das, Avani Prathap, Nowfiya N, Febina , Sukama, Zigma Benhur, Abcy, Ajma, Beema and Devika. Due to the limitation of time, we took 3 lesson plans within one and half hour. The total lesson plans to be completed were 10.

I taught the concepts Gravitation, Chemical bonding and surface tension. I used to take the concept Carbon dioxide cycle by using the teaching model, Inquiry Training Model. For making my class interactive and lively, I integrated ICT along with my teaching. Also I used activity cards which were given in the form of Google forms. For pointing out the main points and definitions, I used charts. After observing my classes, my peers who were assigned for my observation, suggested some suggestions for improving my class. The strengths of my classes were deep content knowledge, proper use of blackboard, integration of ICT and proper distribution of activity cards.

In the first two classes, I lacked confidence. And the teachers- Sajeena miss ( our principal and optional teacher) and Renjini miss- who were assigned as my concerned teachers for observing my class suggested me to improve my English language as I used mostly colloquial language. I corrected my mistakes in the upcoming classes.

Through peer teaching, I was able to correct  my mistakes and to improve my strengths. I was happy with that.
